My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes.
I know how it feels to be ‘stuck’, not knowing what to do next or how to develop your own style in drawing. Once, I felt frustrated about my creative life too, even though I was working in the creative business. By picking up my pencils and getting back to using simple and basic techniques, I found my creative voice again and haven’t stopped using it ever since.
By learning new things every day, I keep challenging myself, and I keep growing as an artist.
That’s why I really enjoy helping people on their creative path by giving practical tips and showing how you can quickly learn a lot by taking small steps at a time. You can find out more about my online classes “Just Draw It“, “Awesome Art Journaling“, “Draw It Like It’s Hot” and “How to Design a Character” in the section “online art classes” in the menu at the top of this website.
In 2014 together with Danny Gregory, I founded Sketchbook Skool, an online art school designed to inspire creative storytelling through illustrated journaling. Taught by the world’s best illustrators, artists and educators, Sketchbook Skool encourages its global community to draw and keep a sketchbook regardless of skill level.
Other good stuff: Since I am a foodie, it was inevitable for me to make with illustrated recipes, called ‘Food Ink’ (get it here: bit.ly/foodink).
I just love to make things and I believe that a good sense of humor and some enthusiasm can get you a long way. With this, and quite a few drawing tricks up my sleeve, I want to inspire you to make drawing part of your life too, and get rid of the ‘I could never do that’ – thoughts.
Random facts about me: I am a runner, a foodie, a coffee addict and I love traveling – seeing new things is so inspiring!
